Your Role

The Manufacturing Engineer will work as a key member of the Engineering Team.

They will have responsibility for the design, implementation and optimisation of manufacturing processes in a fast-paced CNC machining environment.

Interpret manufacturing drawings to establish best manufacturing process routings while keeping in mind the material type, part tolerances and part finishes required by the end customer.

Review all new manufactured components through the internal contract review and NPI processes to ensure the parts meet all the requirements set down by the customer.

Work with the production department to ensure part routing, material sizes and other feedback from production is noted and updated on the ERP system.

They will support the sales team in generating quotations based on the best manufacturing solution, Machine capacity, optimal material size and type. Where applicable, find suitable sub-contractors for external special processes that may be required.

Assist with new customer on-boarding projects, review of customer technical documents and ensure compliance to those requirements.

Produce standard operating procedures (SOP), work instructions (WI) and CAD drawings to be used for the manufacturing process. Establish validated production process per customer requirements.

You will work to continuously improve manufacturing efficiency with a focus on ensuring that products are manufactured efficiently, cost-effectively, and meet quality standards.

Other Tasks/Duties May Include:

  • Part and job creation on ERP system.
  • Customer management, process new orders, communicate status of current order book and planning for future orders.
  • Project Management of key customer projects, as required.
  • Assist Production Dept and Quality with queries as they may arise.
  • Ensure that the correct and most up to date information is on the ERP system and make all relevant other departments aware of changes (e.g. customer updates).
  • Other ad hoc projects and duties as required.

Requirements for the Role

  • Level 8 Engineering / Manufacturing Degree
  • 3 – 5 years industry experience ideally in CNC manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of CNC machining practices of milling, turning etc would be an advantage.
  • Good understanding of material types, part finishing process (Heat treatment, anodising etc.)
  • Ability to interpret engineering / manufacturing drawings, knowledge of GD&T an advantage.
  • Strong Communication skills along with a positive attitude.
  • Good understanding of cost allocation and product costing.
  • Strong IT skills with good Excel skills and experience using MRP software packages.
  • Aptitude to learn, willingness to progress and ability to assume responsibility.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to liaise with senior management.
